Math test this Friday, November 25th

This Friday, November 25th, we will be having a math test that reviews a number of the concepts and skills we have been practicing over the past month:

- ways to represent decimal numbers (ex. *in a place value chart, in words, in expanded form (i.e. 32.67 = 30 + 2 + 0.6 + 0.07), *on a number line, *using money, *using a hundredths wheel, *using a hundredths or thousandths chart or as a result of combining other numbers (i.e. $3.79 = $20 - $16.21)
* All of these materials are available for students to use in the classroom
- adding decimal numbers
-subtracting decimal numbers (Note that students have been either "adding up" between numbers (i.e. $10 - $3.69 =  $3 and 69 cents to $3 and 70 cents = 1 cent, $3 and 70 cents to $4 = 30 cents, $4 to $10 = $6, total difference is $6.31) or subtracting using the traditional method you have probably been taught.
- estimating the answers to addition and subtraction questions when decimals are involved
- some algebra (i.e. solving for an unknown number)  Note that we have been having fun with this!  I have been emphasizing that equations are like teeter totters and that both parts have to be balanced.

We have been working through a review quiz that will closely resemble the test.  Students are free to take this home to study before Friday.  Let me know if you have any questions.
