Bienvenue à la nouvelle année scolaire! We are looking forward to providing many creative and challenging learning opportunities for your child this year. We are excited about the opportunity to team teach together and to combine our respective strengths and energy.

Mme Lindsay will be teaching every morning and Mme Cotterchio will be teaching every afternoon. Mme Lindsay will bring many hands-on learning opportunities to the Science (en français) and Math programs in the morning. Mme Cotterchio will share her passion for history and travel in the Études Sociales program and will be focusing on the reading and writing components of the French literacy program. The English component of your child’s program will be covered by both Ms. Gefucia while Ms. Hall teaches Art and Music to our students.

Your child will have Phys. Ed. four out of five school days (en français with Mme Lindsay).  Please make sure that he or she has an extra t-shirt and a pair of shorts at the beginning of the week for Phys. Ed. to be returned home at the end of the week. A second pair of indoor running shoes is needed for use inside the school.

The Junior grades are transitional years, with the emphasis on encouraging students to become more independent as learners. Agendas will be provided this year at no cost.  Please review your child’s agenda daily for any notes from teachers and feel free to use the agenda to communicate with us. We check the agendas daily and they will be the primary source of communication from home, although we can also be reached by e-mail (a.lindsay@tldsb.on.ca or k.cotterchio@tldsb.on.ca.

Another prime source of information this year will be our classroom website at huntsville56.blogspot.com. It is accessible both by computer and by cell phone.  We will be updating it consistently throughout the year with information, resources, photos and updates from our classroom. Many of our updates will be written by students.  There is also a link to a Google calendar where all important information related to your child’s student life will be posted.  Be sure to enter your email address into the blog so that you receive regular updates from our classroom. If you do not have access to a computer on a regular basis, please let us know in the space below and we will provide paper copies of our calendar and updates.
