Treasure maps and eggstronauts - an update from Mme Lindsay

As a final activity in Geometry, students created imaginary lands and provided precise directions, using math language, to guide readers to a variety of different locations.  Using translations, reflections and rotations, students moved a 2D object around the grid.  Many of the maps created were really imaginative and the directions for some were very precise.  The evaluation for this project has been sent home.  Look for the maps on the bulletin board outside of our class in the near future!

Last week, our students became "Eggstronauts"!  With the help of a visiting teacher from Science North, students were challenged to "launch" a plastic egg safely by protecting it and making it flight worthy with a variety of everyday materials.  As an added bonus, the instructor was a native Francophone and all of the instruction for this workshop was provided in French!  She was impressed by our students' understanding of scientific concepts in French and their willingness to communicate in French.
